Electrical Engineer

 

At CATALOG, we are building an engineering team of makers, creators, and innovators to design, prototype, and build a first of its kind, DNA storage and computation platform. We are looking for a motivated electrical engineer who will be responsible for designing, implementing, and troubleshooting electrical systems in our automated devices. Tasks will range from creating prototype test systems to fully automated, industrial automated systems capable of DNA writing, reading, and computing.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Serve as the technical lead for electrical systems and components through the entire product life cycle, from inception and roadmap through design
  • Hands-on work that crosses discipline boundaries to solve problems
  • Create comprehensive design tests, conduct debugging, and assess failure modes
  • Implement embedded sensing and electronics systems
  • Use a first principle approach to turn theoretical ideas into practical and implementable solutions

 

What we need:

  • At least B.S. in Engineering (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer, or closely related field) higher degree a plus
  • 2+ years of experience designing and implementing board-level circuit design, especially targeted toward embedded systems
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks or other CAD software
  • Experience with Python, LabView, or MATLAB

  • Familiar with signal processing and controls
  • Experience with PCB layout
  • Experience developing and debugging firmware for embedded systems
  • Experience with system design interfacing to a wide array of electro-mechanical subsystems and debugging experience
